Deserted Open Field

Will and the girls headed straight to their practice place after school was over. It was a deserted open field hidden behind a large row of trees and abandoned houses.

"All right," said Will, "time to practice! Guardians, unite!"

There was a burst of pink light from the Heart of Kandrakar in Will's hands. The girls feet rose from the ground and they swirled. Will could never get used to that strange sensation that went through her body as she transformed.

The pink light suddenly disappeared and Will landed on the floor with the others.

"Air!" Hay Lin cried as she flew around happily. She directed a gust of wind at Will for fun.

"I don't want to set everything of fire..." moaned Taranee, waving her arms around in frustration, and setting a bush on fire accidentally. "Oops," she muttered and managed to return the bush to only being - well - a little singed.

Hay Lin suddenly started to spin.

"Are you allright?" asked Taranee concerned - either Hay was powering up - or dizzy.

When Hay let off a gust of cold air, Taranee had her answer.

"All right guys," Will said, rolling her eyes as Hay Lin giggled. "I think we should practice flying. We're getting pretty good, but we're still not perfect."

"Speak for yourself!" Hay Lin said fluttering around like a hyper hummingbird.

"Allright, show off!" Taranee joked as she picked herself up from Hay Lin's previous air gust. She had a wobbly take of, but managed to confortable glide, spinning and creating a fire ring around her middle.

Will kicked off from the ground, only flying a couple feet off the ground. She tried flying higher, but got dizzy when she looked down.

"Whoa!" she said, touching back to the ground.

"And I'm the one who gets woozy in high heels!" giggled Taranee.

Will laughed along with the others.

"Maybe time for some elemental practice?" Will asked.

"Great!" Hay Lin exclaimed. She created a tornado,She spun it around her body.

Taranee trembled with one fire flame at the tip, which started to expand over her hand, wrist, arm. Taranee stared with a delighted shock on her face.

"Whoa...Nice job guys! Hey, I have something to show you guys." Will pulled out her cellphone.

"What's so amazing about that...?" Will heard someone ask. Will ignored her and said, "Wake up Maggie."

"What do you want?" Will's cellphone asked loudly.

"I don't get it," said Irma, "it could just be one of them fancy ringtones!"

Taranee rolled her eyes at Will.

"Irma," Will said slowly. "The cellphone is talking."

"Ahem. I do have a name," Will's phone said in a offended tone. Irma yelped.

"I-it's...talking?" Irma exclaimed.

A bit slow on the uptake, Taranee broadcast to everyone, which landed her with a shove from Irma.

"Oooh! Let's call it Phoney!" Hay Lin and Irma giggled.

"It's Maggie!" The cellphone grumbled. "Never you mind. What do you want Will?"

"Yeesh. Talk about polite!" Someone whispered.

"Just wanted to show everyone!" Will said.

"Hmph...I'm not a show. By the way, you have one missed call...from some boy named Matt."

"Ooh! Ring him back!" grinned Taranee, sidetracked from the power practice.

Will laughed and dialed Matt's number. She waited until he picked up.

"Um...hi Matt," Will said. "Erm...so you called me?" Will hopes were high. Maybe he wanted to ask her out? What was it?

"Oh yeah," Matt said. "Do you know what the Math homework is?"

Will groaned silently and gave him the questions. Then she snappd the phone shut, looking a bit dejected.

"Total excuse to talk to you," sympathised Taranee,
"Yeah," agreed Cornelia, "I saw him in Maths. Writing down every single word the professor was saying."

Will brightened and grinned broadly.

"Erm...right. So power practice..." But her mind was on Matt the entire time. When the sun began to set, Will called practice to a halt. "Awesome guys! We're really improving. It's Friday, so do you think you guys can over to my house for a sleepover?"

"My mom wants me out of the house!" grinned Irma.
"I've got to tidy my room," said Cornelia, "But please, that won't take long, you know, being me!" Cornelia flicked her hair and golden leaves fell from it.
"I'm in, I can give you a lift Hay, you live close to me," smiled Taranee.
"OK!" came Hay's sweet reply.
