The First day of School

[OOC: This is set in the past, on Will's first day of school.]

Stupid alarm clock! Will thought murderously as she sprinted up to gates of Sheffield Institute. She entered the building and pulled out her school schedule. She had Math in classroom 3A with Mrs. Rudolph.

"Ugh! Where's classroom 3A?" Will wondered aloud.

"You've got Maths, unlucky," grinned Taranee, her back to whoever the new girl was. Taranee shuffled her back around, trying to find her timetable, History class, which room and I in? "I'm Taranee, I was new two days ago. You're staring slightly late, aren't you?"

"Yeah. It's all my alarm clock's fault!" Will exclaimed. "By the way I'm Will. Do you know where classroom 3A is?"

"Up the stairs, to the left, and it's the room next to the big library. There's a sign saying 3A. I wish I knew where 2B was!" Taranee paused seeing the head cautiously walk down the steps, "Watch out, that's the Headmistress, Principal Knicherbocher." Taranee turned round and saw a small sign poking out - Room 2B. She hated to leave the new girl in the clutches of the Head.

Hay Lin yawned. Irma AKA:Her gossip dispenser,was out sick.
Hay Lin looked at her History book and sighed. They had a test in three days and Hay Lin was seriously nervous,As she was failing History.

Taranee burst into the room, muttered a "Sorry I'm late," and settled in a seat behind a small Chinese girl whom she recognised from a few classes.

Hay Lin turned to see an African-American girl. "Hi,I'm Hay Lin,"She said with a grin.

"Thanks," Will said to Taranee before she left to go to room 2B. Now where's the library? Will wondered, trying to remember Taranee's instructions.

"What are you doing out in the hall?" A stern voice from behind. Will spun around to face Principal Knickerbocker.

"Um....I'm new. And I don't know where my class is," Will said nervously. "It's classroom 3A."

"Well scoot! I'll let you off with a warning, but I won't be so lenient next time. The classroom is next to the library, which is down the hall."

Will gladly ran away from Principal Knickerbocker and entered class late.

"I'm... Taranee..." muttered Taranee, glancing at Hay's toothy grin. She rummaged in she bag for her pencilcase and books that she needed, her head reeling at the smell of the tuna and cucumber sandwiches her brother had made this morning. "Doesn't someone normally sit next to you? Brown, curly hair?"

"Yep,That's Irma!" Hay Lin whispered.

"Listen, I might be being nosy, but yesterday I overheard you talking about a... school 'spell'? Rigging the quizzes?"

Hay Lin grinned. "Well...That's Irma's little trick..And she won't TELL ME HOW SHE DOES IT!" Hay Lin burst out. She clapped a hand over her mouth. "oops.."

Taranee's eye widened, as the boy and girl sitting in front of Hay turned as stared at her outburst.

"Oh! Not like I haven't done it before!" Hay Lin replied to them. "Hi Nigel!" She chirped.
The boy gazed at Taranee and turned away.

Taranee giggled at the wacky girl. "You're cool with Nigel? I thought he was part of a gang of bullies?"

"Well..Kinda."Hay Lin frowned. "He never gets into trouble on his own,Just with that loser-Uriah."

"He is a loser," agreed Taranee, "has he never been suspended or anything? Uriah, I mean."

"Almost every 4 months."Hay Lin replied. She fiddled with her hair.

Taranee suppressed a laugh as the teacher came walking 'round. "What was his last stunt?"

"He tried to pour a bucket of water over Irma,But somehow it just...bounced off her."Hay Lin frowned again.

"Weird..." Taranee trailed off. As the bell rang, she looked down at her book. Barely any notes. Sighing, she followed Hay to chemistry, she remembered Will's timetable - she had chemistry next, too. Taranee had never had chemistry at this school before, she had no clue where the room was.

After a long day of rules and class expectations with Mrs. Rudolph, Will gladly left the classroom. She grabbed her schedule from her bookbag and studied her timetable. She had Chemistry next in room 6B....And where was that?

Will bumped into a girl named Elyon, who said that she had Chemistry next, too. Will followed Elyon into the Chemistry classroom, which was filled with counters, beakers, and liquids. Will noticed Taranee, the girl from before.

"Hi Taranee!" Will said, waving.

Elyon: "Friend of yours?" *smiles* "If not, you're more than welcome to sit by me and Cornelia. She's always got the hottest news about cute guys."

She goes to sit at her spot.

"Oh, sure!" Will smiled, glad to be able to make new friends. Class began very soon afterwards.

"Alright settle down!" A voice called from the door.

Taranee was glancing at the bunsen burner set on the table. She never liked fire. She sat on a table near to the red headed Will.
"Okay everyone, we're heating up this chemical-" the teacher picked up a conical flask containing a transparent orange liquid, "called Clyranol* and record the changes."
